Meet The Westside Medical Staff

RESNA certified Assistive Technology Professionals (ATP) Our ATPs assist physicians and therapists during clinical wheelchair evaluations at some of the most respected clinics in the area. During an evaluation, a Westside ATP teams up with a clinician to determine the appropriate piece of equipment that will help the patient achieve the highest level of function and mobility. Credentialed through the Rehab Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA), our ATPs attend continuing education courses approved by the National Registry of Rehabilitation Technology Suppliers throughout their careers in order to obtain CEU and CCC credits.

Ron Nettnin, ATP

Ron started in the business in 1985  while employed with Northside Surgical Supply. He quickly enjoyed the challenges of listening and working with many different people and loved helping the customers. Ron soon moved into working with people who suffered from paraplegia, quadriplegia, MS, ALS,  cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, TBI’s, MD, and many more diagnosis. Ron was one of the first to bring Power Tilt in Space chairs to Strong Memorial. He said at first they shrugged at the idea, but then they grew to love the chairs, and even this day they will order the technology which was in it’s infancy at the time. Ron enjoys the great advances that have come about with wheelchair technology and is always happy to share this with his Staff at Westside and the Pt’s/ OT’s in the community. To quote Ron, “I will never forget the physician who I helped at RGH who had a 20 minute standing tolerance and was unable to continue to operate as a result.” Ron took a demo piece of equipment along with his old fashioned video camera to RGH so he could video what needed to be changed or modified on this power standing device so she could get close enough to the Operating table. 3 weeks later he arrived with the custom device and this physician was thrilled she could continue to do her job and operate again. That was the first time he saw a live operation aside from his 3 kids births. Ron’s creativity and personality make him a great leader, co worker, and ATP when working with new challenges. He is so pleased to have 2 of his 3 children work with him so he can guide them to also be future leaders in the Complex Rehab Field.

I have been involved in the DME industry for 8 ½  years now with my start as the Service Manager at Westside Medical Supply.  As the Service manager I was not only servicing equipment, but also assisting on deliveries when needed. After 2 years as the Service Manager, my position changed to Rehab Sales in which I’ve steadily grown each year. My family includes my Wife, Andrea, who is a Care Transition Intervention Coach for Lifetime Care, my eldest daughter, Kelly, who will soon finish her education and become an RN, my son Timothy, who works in the HVAC field, and my youngest daughter, Emily, who is not only rapidly excelling in 2nd grade, but is an absolute delight to all that know her. I also have two grandchildren: Ava and Liam, both 3 years old and full of energy! And last but not least, I cannot forget my enthusiastic and highly energetic chocolate lab, Cocoa, who keeps life interesting-to say the least, around the Nettnin household. When I’m not working, I enjoy a good game of Golf, Bowling, Reading, and Woodworking. I strive to bring a positive change or improvement in every person or family that I am fortunate enough to work with.

The DME industry is something that has been around me my entire life, being that my father, Ron Nettnin, started and continues to be the owner of Westside Medical Supply.  I officially started at Westside about 10 years ago at the age of 16, by delivering and setting up equipment. Two years ago, my position changed to Rehab Sales Consultant, in which I specialize in providing the proper equipment for each specific individual. My newest goal is to become a certified ATP by next year. Outside of work I enjoy going to the gym, playing sports, spending time with family, and enjoying the outdoors.  My bulldog, Biggie, keeps me busy most of the time (he’s currently learning how to skateboard). I’m incredibly thankful to have a job that allows me to partake in the positive changes provided to our customer’s lives. It gives me great joy to provide independence to one whose life was previously limited and possibly dependent on others.

I started out in the DME industry 30 years ago, and have become a RESNA certified ATP. I am also factory certified to handle all aspects of complex rehab technology (Sales and Service) which includes custom seating, custom positioning systems, power mobility, custom manual wheelchairs, patient lifting systems, and ECU interfaces, to name a few.

I was born and raised in Rochester, NY and am married with three wonderful daughters.

My recent transitions to Westside Medical Supply has been nothing but positive, and the staff has certainly welcomed me with open arms. I have known and worked with the owner, Ron Nettnin, for many years, and feel honored to be able to work with him again. I enjoy  getting to know many different individuals and their families on a personal level, and being able to make a positive improvement to their lives.

Outside Sales Coordinator

Our professional Outside Sales Coordinator serves as liaison between referral sources, families and our ATP staff. They capture important information on the patient’s medical condition and insurance to assist in the functional evaluation performed by the physician, clinician and WESTSIDE’S ATP to be considered for a Power Mobility Devices (PMD), custom manual wheelchairs, sports equipment, standers and pediatric equipment. They also assist with the appointments for evaluations, fittings and/or equipment modifications.

The Outside Sales Coordinators’ vast knowledge of all insurance criteria and authorization requirements help patients obtain the best possible coverage.

Inside Sales Representatives

Our professional Inside Sales representatives are the first to answer your call when ordering durable medical equipment, or the first to respond to a faxed order. Experienced in working with all major insurances, they qualify patients for insurance reimbursement by obtaining required documentation from patients, physicians and/or clinicians.

WESTSIDE’S Inside Sales representatives are versed in all types of durable medical equipment and serve as a valuable resource to help prescribers determine the most appropriate equipment for their patients. They also educate patients and families on safe use of equipment and help troubleshoot problems. Finally, our Inside Sales team work hard to find “special” equipment to meet the unique needs of many of our patients. We like to be known as the company to go to when no other company is willing to take that extra mile to find that specific equipment or solution.

Amanda Varrone

Amanda is a biller at Westside Medical Supply. She has been in the durable medical equipment business for about 10 years. She holds a bachelors degree in music from The Pennsylvania STate University, and her Master’s degree from the Peabody Institute of the The Johns Hopkins University in vocal performance and pedagogy. When she’s not working, she enjoys singing, running and being a wife and mother of her beautiful daughters.
